New for this year will be Speed Geeking This is a format for doing short demo's of projects

We will have sign-ups for this in the morning and until it happens just after lunch. If you have something you want to Demonstrate prepare a 5 min talk/demo and be prepared to give it 10 times in a row. You will just be doing it off your laptop.

This is an Unconference - we create the agenda live the day of the event. We do invite you to think about what you want to present about, questions you hope to get answered and issues you hope to discuss with peers. You can read this PDF about how to prepare for attending.

Our Facilitator will again be Kaliya Hamlin who did a great job last year - you can read more about her work here she has facilitated over 75 unconferences for technical community.

We will be doing documentation - collecting notes from all the sessions. Please be prepared to participate in this process.

It’s a friendly community event for the whole range of Scala enthusiasts from those just “checking it out” to recognised experts who have been developing it for years. This diversity means you can learn everything you need to know about any aspect of the Scala language or the Lift Web Framework.

Martin Odersky, the creator of Scala, will be giving the opening talk, “Scala – The next five years”, where he will outline a Scala roadmap for the future. He will be there throughout the day participating in the conference and able to answer all the questions you may have. He is keen to hear what you are doing with Scala and what you think needs to be done.

After Martin’s talk the whole community that is gathered will make the agenda for the day. Like last year Kaliya Hamlin an expert unconference designer and facilitator will be guiding us through this process.

Sessions will cover a vast range of topics and reflect the mix of new Scala programmers, experts and commercial developers, so sessions can range over a broad topic area. You can already register suggestions on the wiki ahead of time, however all scheduling will be done that day.
